LOST SONGS: It Might As Well Be Spring

_

I haven't seen a crocus or a rosebud...

Or a robin on the wing

But I feel so gay in a melancholy way,

That it might as well be spring ....

New York City jazz singer Lauren Henderson romps thru a forgotten Rogers & Hammerstein standard, with Glenn Zalesky at the piano.

With five albums behind her, Lauren's at NYC's Birdland in May.

Song:  Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II

(From the 1945 musical State Fair, their only original film score.)

Dick Haymes was the first recording, same year.

Lovely version of a lovely song.
Here's another, with an overlooked fine vocalist (from Buffalo!) whose seeming innocence adds a nice quality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uI85U1MMCvc
