While Canada diddles with more swoony, press-friendly dreams of 177 kilometer per hour trains in the Toronto-Montreal-Quebec City corridor...

Japan's Shinkansen does 260 kph ... thru a station.

China's bullet train tops out at 364 kilometers an hour...

It takes six hours currently to chug, bump and stall your way from Toronto to Ottawa, nine to Montreal...

Ottawa's open air train  station is a snow-swept Siberia from November to April. VIA calls it "airy." LOL.
