Since the debut of cute tip prompts
on card readers at no-service fast foods,
edgy restaurants and
serve-yourself
groceries and gas stations,
many search for a way to protest
the guilt-inducing system.
It only works if a Human
is actually present and watching you
complete a credit card transaction.
"Can you clear this to the bill screen?"
you ask. "I'm leaving the tip in cash."
Most will happily jump
the tip prompt, thinking they can
pocket the cash tip instantly.
Leave whatever you might.
