From Froghorn Leghorn to Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd, Blanc had their back. And throat.
Mel's skills sparked a wide range of sidelines, from charted record hits (above), to weird novelty tunes, to joining Jack Benny in running radio gags. His creepy Old Guy guarded Jack's famous money vault.
Jack's fave bit was their Si Senor exchanges, repeated often when Benny went to TV.
Mel's deadpan stare prompted barely-surpressed Benny gigglefits.
It was a gentler time.
