Saint Apollonia,

patron saint of Dentists

 

 

Apollonia was martyred in 249 A.D. 

in Alexandria, Egypt.

Three wisdom tooth extractions

and two root canals.

The bill killed her.

 

Just kidding.

 

 According to legend, she refused to renounce her faith in God and was punished by having all of her teeth violently pulled or knocked out. 

 

It's for this reason that we know her today as the patron Saint of dentistry. 

 

Heathens threatened to burn her alive if she refused to repeat blasphemy against Christ.

 

 Given, at her own request a little freedom, she sprang quickly into the fire and was burned to death. 

Apollonia is the saint you pray to
