Donald Fagen HD Remastered – New Frontier (Official Video)

"We're gonna have a wingding
a summer smoker underground

It's just a dugout that my dad built
in case the Reds decide to push the button down

We've got provisions and lots of beer
the keyword is survival on the New Frontier ..."

A dazzling re-up for Donald Fagen's classic album, The Nightfly. Born again from 1982.

The only album many really need.

And one of MTV's best early videos....

The genius of Donald Fagen and Steely Dan that many of us heard 40 years ago and heard dozens (hundreds?) of times since, it remains fresh, contemporary, timeless and essential 40 years later.
I love how DF created a perfect 1950s atomic age and futurism video in the early 80s. He truly captured his and my parents youth era with cool animation along with such a perfect album. Because this video was so great it played for years after.
Not only is this a fantastic song, but I think this is one of the best videos of the early MTV era. It's just perfect in the way it captures the mood and theme of the song. I remember being impressed with this when I was a teenager, and my opinion hasn't changed a bit.
I literally could not say how many times I have listened to this song. In my top five of all time, and it's my go-to song for testing out the bazillions of pieces of stereo equipment that I have bought in my life. This album is Sonic perfection.
Classy, jazz-tinged rock, cute animation, a romantic tryst, and the grim specter of nuclear annihilation. What’s not to love?
This is one of those albums that you can't pick a favorite song because they're all so good. Wanna class-up a party? Put this on...
Probably in the top 3 most played songs of my life. Never gets old. Goes with everything from a perfect summer day to an all-night blizzard. How does he do it? I love all the SPACE in the verse, with each line dropping into a mile-deep groove. Who else would write a song about hooking up in a fallout shelter?
Bought this album when I was 16 growing up in Scotland. Blew me away immediately. The video was the icing on the cake. Never would have thought it would sound so fresh 40 years on.
One of Fagen's many classic songs, "The Nightfly" is a complete masterpiece.
I never get tired of hearing this song since I bought The Nightfly album in 1983. Listen close to the drums and percussion. More going on than you think. Perfect ending to the song too.
