Paul Reubens / Pee-wee Herman ( 1952 - 2023 )
Things I learned over the weekend
. Checkers may be the oldest board game, dating back to around 3000 BC. Checkers is known as Draughts in England.
. Fox TV may write off $237 million of its landmark $787 million defamation settlement with Dominion Voting systerms as a biz tax deduction. A senator is trying to stop it.
. The difference between a cave and a cavern is entrances. Cave entrances are on the earth's surface, while a cavern has its opening underground. A cave has one opening, while a cavern may have multiple openings.
. The 420 miles to Denver sign on 1-70 has been stolen so many times, the new one says the distance is 419.99.

SUNDAY SAMBA: Still Time to Be Happy - Beth Carvalho, Zeca Pagodinho
Two ex-lovers meet. How you doin'?
Not well.
I live with no motive,
I don't know where to go
I'm tired of crying
Too many sleepless nights
comfort my pain
and please make me …. laugh
Is it the only-in-Brazil happy-sad, sad-happy lyric? The earworm melody? The shuffle samba and strings? The audience sing-along?
All I know is I have watched this dozens of times in recent days.
Okay, it's the line about the laugh.
Make me laugh.
That's what the ex-lovers miss most.
Turn on the English subtitles (the little CC box at bottom right of video). ( 5.46, song at .40)
