"It’s like whoever who throws together the Oscars' In Memoriam every year has never watched TCM to see how it should be done.
Instead of a singer to whom you keep cutting away to, show us the singer, OR the photos. Not a jumble of both."
Why can't the Oscars produce a decent Memoriam segment?
What should be a touching tribute is always a mix of swoopy shots of somebody like Lenny Kravitz at a piano, while images of the supposed honorees get lost in the shuffle.
A week ago, the Screen Actors Guild awards show offered its skillfully edited tribute to actors who've passed. (Runs 3 mins)
And showed how it should be done.
