True TV

"Zelensky's TV series on Netflix is shockingly prescient ...  (Deadline)

"Servant of the People brims with insights about modern governance..." (Los Angeles Times)

Zelensky won an election with the comedy persona he displayed on this 2015-2020 series, on Netflix US and here. From comic actor to President Zed.

Servant has sharp, gag-y writing that rivals Veep or Yes Minister... (speed-read the subtitles)

Rapid fire West Wing dialogue.

Better production values, editing and casting than most CBC sitcoms of the last decade.

But it's Servant's arch, cynical view of buffoon politics that make it seem like it could have been written yesterday. It's high-style farce.

The daily shitshow of politics--faked, groomed, concocted, nudged, fudged, manipulated--is as dark, duplicit and manufactured as any squib of "reality" TV.

Expecting a novelty Netflix souvenir I'd sample, Zed's mock origin story is way more than that.

Three episodes down, 20 to go.
