Knock knock: it's the Schnabelperchten

_

    They make their way 

    from house to house, 

   checking homes to see if floors are swept 

   and corners dusted. 

If you don't have a clean house, the legend says the Schnabelperchten will slice open your stomach with a long pair of shears and empty all the rubbish inside you. 

But if they visit your home and all is well, they bring happiness and blessings for the new year.

Also known as the Perchta or Perchren.
